Hey guys my name is Alex and I've been climbing for just over 7 years. My first experience with climbing was getting invited to my sisters best friends birthday party; after this I was hooked !!.

I started off by doing NICAS at The Warehouse Climbing centre with a few different coaches, one being Marc Ward, who is still supporting me with my climbing career today through the sponsorship and support of Lemon climbing. After joining The Warehouse and UCR climbing teams I started competing for the south west in YCS and other larger competitions. While climbing for both teams my main inspiration to get stronger was Cailean Harker from whom I received 1:1 coaching to further push my climbing technique and grades!! But without the support from my Dad and Mum none of this would have been possible.

Since going to university my passion for outdoor climbing has come into its own with trips to Magic Wood in Switzerland, and Fontainebleau in France, with 2018 and 19 being some fo my best years climbing yet!! With 4 8A boulders this year in different countries and completing Tuppence 8b at Ansteys cove. Whilst getting outdoors more I’ve also competed in a few competitions, such as the Bristol Boulder champs (1st place 2018), The Warehouse boulder/lead comp (1st place) and competing for my Universities in SWUBS (1st for Plymouth) and now  currently in 1st representing Exeter Uni.

I’m looking forward to the next few years ahead and where I may have the chances to be climbing outdoors while still competing.

I always wonder what people think of climbers and also how much of a strange sport it is!!

“I will get up this boulder the hardest possible way I can find and will make all the excuses in the world, until I do the boulder and then question if it really is that grade or if it’s soft”
